Rogers International School

R

ogers International School is an authorized International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program World School. The environment is used as an integrating context for learning across all subject areas. Students engage in inquiry-based units focusing on building global awareness and the application of scientific skills in all subject areas. As a Stamford Public School, the school offers a rigorous curriculum based on the National Standards.

The mission of the International Baccalaureate (IB) is "...to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect."

The International Baccalaureate's overarching continuum emphasizes: student-centered inquiry-based learning experiences; foreign language instruction; an application of acquired skills and knowledge; a spirit of discovery and an enjoyment of learning.

IB encourages students to ask challenging questions, to discover new ways of learning, and to develop a sense of identity as global citizens in the 21st century.

Rogers International School was originally the International School at Rogers Magnet, and is a recipient of the Connecticut Commission on the Arts “HOT” school grant. In 2007, the International School at Rogers Magnet also received the Lone Pine First Annual Fairfield Academic Gain Award.

Now, Rogers International School is a “six- to-six” interdistrict magnet school with before and after school programs beginning at 6 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m. The school will provide education to 560 students in Kindergarten through sixth grade. In 2010, a seventh grade will be added. In 2011, an eighth grade will be added, bringing the total student population to 720.
