Facts about the Environmental Interdistrict Magnet School

  • The school will serve 660 students from grades K through Grade 8 at full capacity.
  • It will be housed in a brand new, “green,” energy-efficient building located at 2 Blachley Road in Stamford.
  • This school will be unique not only in its environmentally-friendly design structure, but also in its use of projects and investigations to increase students’ awareness of their connection to the earth and responsibility to care for it.
  • The school will be open from 6 AM to 6 PM. The regular school day program (for which the hours have not yet been determined) is free, and parents may elect to enroll their children for before- or after-school care between the hours of 6 AM and 6 PM (in addition to the regular school day) for a small fee.
  • Students who enroll at the Environmental Magnet School will have the opportunity to remain at the school for grades 6-8, offering a unique K to Grade 8 continuum for students.
