The ESL classes provide students with diverse linguistic and ethnic backgrounds with the English communicatin skills necessary for successful participation in the mainstream classroom.

ESL Program Selection /ENTRY Criteria

• Two of three questions in the Home Language Survey indicates the use of a language other than English
• Teacher/guidance/parent referral
• LAS (Language Assessment Scale) Levels 1, 2, or 3

EXIT Criteria

• LAS (Language Assessment Scale) Level 4 or above (all grades) and
• DRA (Diagnostic Reading Assessment)Grade Level Proficient (K-2)
• CMT (Reading, MathSubtests) Proficient Level, Writing Basic level or above (3-8)
• CAPT (Reading, Math Subtests) Proficient Level, Writing Basic level or above (Grade 9)
• CAPT(Reading, Math, Writing Subtest ) Basic Level or above  (Grade 10-12)
