This year’s Spotlight On Teachers event, held at the University of Connecticut’s Stamford campus, honored nearly 40 educators who embody excellence in the classroom and beyond. Spotlight Awards were presented by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Joshua Starr, Board of Education President Richard Freedman, and Stamford Education Association President Lori Rossomando. The Teacher of the Year Awards were presented by Dr. Thomas Moulketis, James Ellsworth, and Betsy DeSantis. Joan Hurley, Connecticut’s Teacher of the Year, was the special guest speaker.

Thanks to the following committee members for enabling so many of Stamford’s finest teachers to be recognized for their outstanding work with children: Karen Breault, Betsy DeSantis, James Ellsworth, Brendan Fox, Peter Kinahan, Laura Lynam, Dr. Thomas Moulketis, JoAnn Schlectweg, Dr. Debby Schreiner, Debbie Swenson, Lori Rossomando, and Debbie Weaton.
